![]() The Lost Sea Group Tour Info After having enjoyed the 1982 National Royal Rangers Camporama at Silver Dollar City (now Dollywood) located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, we visited the 1982 Worlds fair in Knoxville and then proceeded to The Lost Sea Cave. I went on a special tour for organized groups and for hours we explored the undeveloped parts of the cave. We crawled through cracks, crevices, nooks, and crannies through a seemingly unending maze of caverns and passages. We saw anthodites (cave flowers), which are so rare that the Lost Sea contains 50% of the world`s known formations. We viewed rooms where ancient jaguar roamed, moonshine was made, and saltpeter was mined for gunpowder by Confederate soldiers. There was the remains of an old wooden dance floor nearby a very large cache of sea biscuits for use during the unfortunant event the cave needed to be used as a fallout shelter. It was a great time. It`s been a very long time and I remember there were at least 7 or 8 of us on the trip however, I can only remember Jack Lorence, Reggie Sharp, a guy named Dan and Critterfoot (Russ Shallock). |
